Get a dose of health by exercising on your way to destination

Good health is a treasure in itself and what better way to achieve it than to just walk out of your house and do stretching, yoga activity or bike ride anywhere on the way to your office or shopping! If it sounds too futuristic, then to tell you, such future is not far away. To fight the kind of fast growing obesity epidemic in Pittsburgh, this concept has been materialized in the form of Exercise City. Having a unique design of its own, this Exercise City has been created to offer a healthy gift to Pittsburgh residents so they may continue fighting against the problem of being overweight and regain health. To be developed along the city’s public staircases, wonderful wellness stations have been designed by the talented designer Kathryn M. Walsh. If you are interested in undertaking some stretching or yoga exercises, there are benches setup to contour to your body for better positioning.

These wellness stations also include special structural elements that can help optimize the results of a workout or strength training. Additionally, there are options of walkable bike ramps if you prefer to exercise through biking. Such bike ramps are created along staircase railings. These ramps also help extending the existing bicycle routes throughout Pittsburgh, and these are much more helpful for users in hilly areas and extreme conditions.

So, you would never feel out of the mood for exercising whatever the condition is. On top of all its special features, the Exercise City is designed to be run on piezoelectric stairs and under solar-powered roofs. It is developed using local, sustainable materials and is totally away from grid power. The use of piezoelectric stairs encourages the creation and storage of power during usage by people. Thus, this self-sustainable design would not only attract people but also motivate them to get a dose of health as and when they can stopover.
