A Room for London: A perched hut for two guests over the Thames

‘A Room for London’ is an exclusive hanging hotel for two guests over the Thames River in London. It is a one-unit hotel that can house two people a night and it will be open only for a year. The awesome hotel is a project of Artangel and Living Architecture, and it is designed by David Kohn Architects with artist Fiona Banner. The inspiration for the river boat-shaped hotel is the steamer Joseph Conrad mentioned in his novella ‘Heart of Darkness’.

Living Room for London

The hovering hotel will be a great experience for people to spend a night. They can enjoy the nocturnal beauty and grandeur of the Thames, look at the clouds and have a glimpse of the sleeping city. The exterior of the small hotel is pretty superb with the shape of a riverboat and bedecked with glass windows. It seems to have designed to let enough air and light enter the rooms inside.

Living Architecture has not released images of the interior of the hotel. However, let us simply guess that it will have an en-suite double bedroom, a viewing deck, a kitchen, a bathroom and, of course, a library inside. The press release from its developers invites visitors to reflect upon what they experience during their one night stay in the hovering hut.

The price for a stay in the hotel starts at £120 ($185). It will not be a big price for Londoners. Enjoy the pleasure of spending a night over the Thames in A Room for London.
