Clepsamia time lamp uses an LED strip to tell time like an hourglass

An hourglass has been used since centuries to measure time and has always caught the fancy of people even in this digital world. Taking inspiration from the shape of hourglass is a time-lamp named Clepsamia, which has been designed by Marco Spataro. The lamp will be a great companion when you want to keep a track of time while reading a book or studying.

While reading, we usually lose track of time and to keep up with the hour of the day one needs to refer to a watch or a clock time and again. This can pose to be a great distraction and can kill the whole experience of reading a good book. Clepsamia time-lamp will provide a great solution and make sure that nothing comes between you and the book.

The design of this personal lamp brings time and lighting on the same platform, which is commendable. Just like an hourglass contains sand, Clepsamia time-lamp contains light. The lap comprises of an LED strip which shifts from the top of the pyramid to the bottom in an hour. When the time is about to expire, the lamp will go out completely in turn informing the reader about the amount of time spent while reading.

If you wish to bring the light back, simply turn over the lamp and it will start glowing again. This is made possible because of the presence of a tilt sensor that restarts the entire process when the lamp is turned. Clepsamia time-lamp is quite impressive and the angle of light can be further adjusted as per a user’s whims and fancies.
