An international competition was held to come up with a suitable design in which Wood Bagot has been declared the winning entry. The set up of China Southern Airport City will be done on Liuxi River that flows through Guangzhou in China.
The design is a great amalgamation of business and manufacturing practices with that of residential and lifestyle elements. The awe-inspiring design brings the Airport City site on a single platform. The major highway intersects with the winged shaped parcels, which unfurls a unique aesthetic identity that can be relished by passengers of departing as well as arriving planes. Lending the whole design a bewitching appeal is the presence of parks, lakes as well as landmark buildings that inject an orderly feel.
The natural bend of the Liuxi River has been used in a very clever way, which neatly highlights an executive complex that comprises of a VIP club and a five star hotel. The neighborhood of the master plan has been well split into three areas for culture, business and entertainment. But, the heart of the whole design is the Southern Airlines University, which has a very distinctive appeal. The presence of bold landforms, sculptured in a stylish manner, along with academic, residential and contemporary landscapes give the whole design a charm of its own.
